Fifty-Two Week Photography Project
It has been said that repetition is the key to increasing one’s skill or the mother of skill. That is certainly true when it comes to photography. What better way to motivate yourself to spend more time practicing photography than with a 52-week challenge? This is really a multifaceted project for myself. For starters, it will cover 365 days of 2019, broken into 52 weeks of different assignments. Second, I will be taking photos exclusively within the city of Petersburg. The purpose with this challenge is to force myself to be more creative but to also explore areas I know and ones I do not. Having lived in and near the city for my entire life, it will be exciting to find the unknowns and maybe see things in a new light. My third goal is to take these photos and create a book. This book will be three things in one. It will hopefully be an interesting and inspiring photo book. But also delve into my photographic process, and cover some of the fundamentals of good photography. Finally, I’d like to document the interesting and historical aspects of the city conveyed through my photos.
I will be posting my photos here and in my Instagram and Twitter feeds with the hashtag #52weekphotogoal amongst others. There will also be giveaways throughout the year.
If you would like to join me on the weekly assignments, I will post the calendars here. So please enjoy this 52 week challenge!
