I have a fondness for libraries, the quiet and peaceful environment, the physicality of it. So many books! But most of all is what they represent. The collection and storage of knowledge. A library represents reading and studying. Two things I enjoy.
So when these Little Free Libraries came on the scene I found them very compelling. Always in the back of my mind were plans for my very own. Not until there was a confluence of two events was this notion to come to life.
For a year now I have my own storefront and sidewalk, a place for a Little Free Library! That was event number one. The second event was noticing an outdoor publication rack. The type you see in public areas or in front of convenience stores. This one was standing near a dumpster looking extremely weathered and waiting to be pitched. The owner was more than happy to let me take it off his hands.
After some cleanup, refurbishment and upgrades it is ready to serve the community!
My goal is to curate the content of this particular library and maintain a selection of quality books and magazines. From time to time I will also add prints, postcards and other items I produce.
