The Process
I’ve designed a 3 step process to make it as easy as possible. These steps ensure I know exactly what your goals and wishes are for the photoshoot. It gives me an opportunity to get to know you and make an important connection that will be important to a successful photoshoot. You will also have the opportunity to explain your goals and how I can taylor the photoshoot to your newborn’s specific needs. It will also take the pressure off so that you can enjoy the photoshoot from start to finish.
Step 1: Consultation
Once you book your session I will contact you to schedule an in-person, telephone or video-conference consultation to discuss your goals for the session. If you’re not sure about booking a session without speaking to me first, please feel free to call.
Step 2: Photoshoot
Enjoy a fun and easy going session in the studio. No pressure here, I promise! I will work with you and your newborn to strike the most flattering poses and capture genuine expressions. The studio includes a comfortable space for family and friends during the photoshoot. Light refreshments, clean restroom and a changing area are ready for your use.
Step 3: Reveal
One to two weeks after your session is complete, you will receive a link to your own personalized proof gallery. You can select your favorites for final editing and retouching. You will receive the final images in the gallery where they can be downloaded and shared. I will also present you with print options at this time.
Colorful Beginnings
This session is designed to capture the essence of your baby’s first days, embracing the soft, natural hues of your newborn’s skin, surroundings, and outfits, bringing your precious memories to life in vivid detail.
Techniques and Process:
Color adds depth to the images, drawing attention to every detail, from your baby’s glowing skin to the subtle pastels of blankets and outfits.
Key techniques include:
- Soft light: We prefer soft, diffused light to create a gentle, warm glow. This enhances the baby’s skin tones, making them appear fresh and radiant.
- Color coordination: We work with light fabrics, and props that complement the baby’s natural coloring. Soft pastels and earthy tones are used to keep the focus on the baby while creating a harmonious look.
- Close-ups with color emphasis: We zoom in on delicate features like rosy cheeks, tiny fingers, and sparkling eyes to highlight the natural beauty and charm of your newborn.
- Soft, creamy bokeh: We use a shallow depth of field to blur the background, drawing attention to the baby while creating a dreamy, painterly effect in the surrounding environment.
You will receive a beautifully curated gallery of high-resolution images that reflect the warmth, joy, and vibrancy of these precious moments. Perfect for displaying as prints or albums, these color photographs will serve as radiant memories you can cherish forever.

When a photoshoot is scheduled, 50% of the session fee must be paid upfront and is not refundable 2 weeks prior to the photoshoot.

- Digitally composited background fee: Add $75 to the session fee of your choice.
- Behind-the-scenes video of your photoshoot fee: Add $100 to the session fee of your choice.
Monochrome Miracles
This session focuses on the purity and simplicity that black and white images bring, creating stunning, timeless memories of your little one’s first days.
Techniques and Process:
In this session, we use lighting to emphasize the delicate features of your newborn. Black and white photography allows us to focus on shadows, contrasts, and textures without the distraction of color, highlighting the baby’s soft skin, tiny fingers, and delicate eyelashes.
We use techniques such as:
- High-contrast lighting: This helps create dramatic depth, making every detail stand out with precision.
- Soft shadows: Positioned carefully, shadows are used to sculpt and frame the newborn’s form, adding a serene, peaceful effect.
- Monochromatic depth: By eliminating color, we draw attention to the baby’s expressions and emotions, creating a sense of timelessness.
- Close-ups and details: We focus on capturing the smallest details, from tiny toes to soft curls, offering a closer view of your baby’s precious features.
The final gallery will include a carefully curated collection of stunning black and white images, offering you a tangible set of memories in both digital and print formats. These images will evoke emotion for generations, each one a piece of art that tells your newborn’s story in the simplest, yet most profound, way.
